Steven Burns – June 24, 2005 - for Grandmother & Grandfather

A Friday night in winter, it was freezing cold,
Still to that dance he did go.
Across the room he saw her standing, swaying slow.
Her mystery smile, in lights turned low

Across the floor her smile did guide him, stepping slow,
Her eyes a beacon to his soul
Without a word his arms slipped round her, she smiled just so.
Into that dance they did flow

Chorus:

Happy again, they’re dancing.
She in his arms, romancing,
He with his charms, she with her smile,
They dance the night, the night away.
(repeat)

Worked a farm and raised a family, three girls a boy
Each one a trial, each one a joy.
Up at five, chores a waiting, food to cook,
Off to school the kids did go.

Sold the farm as they got older, each got jobs
He for the state, she for a school.
Still late at night it's in the kitchen, lights turned low.
Into their dance they do flow.

Chorus

He passed from her in early winter, five years ago.
Her light went dim, her life turned low.
Still late at night, it's in the kitchen, memories glow.
Into their dance she does flow.

 Chorus
