Hope you have as much fun listening to these as we do singing and recording them. The lyrics for all the originals performed as Burning Brooke are by Wyndham and Melanie Dennison; I wrote the music. Keep checking back, we'll record more.
Originals
- Alone - 2/2002 Performed as Burning Brooke. This is a very sad song but a beautiful melody. Lyrics
- Are You Lost - 4/28/2005 For Brandon. Lyrics
- Every Moment - 3/17/2003 A philosophical rock song for Cata. Lyrics
- Fool - 5/2003 Performed as Burning Brooke. This song started in Meghan's college apartment. It has a little bite to it. Lyrics
- Happiness - 3/12/2005 Linda's right. Sometimes music should just make you feel good. Lyrics
- Happiest Man in the World - 3/20/2002 What makes you happy? Upbeat and fun. Supposed to be a sing-a-long song. Lyrics
- Heat - 1/23/2005 Renamed. Started out to be about the distance between Cata and her parents. Guess it changed! Lyrics
- How Did You Know - Performed as Burning Brooke. This song started in Mom's kitchen in Phoenix over Christmas. Lyrics
- I Never Meant To - 5/22/2003 For Rebecca. Rebecca had a stroke at 29. When she was 44 she had another small one. They found and repaired a hole in her heart. When I learned of it, this song spilled out. She always wanted me to write a beautiful song for her. This fits the bill, if somewhat late. Lyrics
- I Will Get Up - 6/8/2002 Very up-tempo. Almost a gospel tune. Lyrics
- Just When I Thought - 10/9/2003 A song about addictions. Lyrics
- Life Rides Rough - 6/14/2004 A song for comfort, though not for joy. Lyrics
- Long Winding River - 2003 - I don't remember when we wrote this. It's a straight blues that I enjoyed playing. Lyrics
- Lullaby - 4/10/2006 Took a while to write. Had to work on it quite a while just to be able to play and sing at the same time. Catalina likes the words. Lyrics
- Peace of Mind - 9/27/2001 This is the song that started me writing again. Lyrics
- Rivers of my Mind - 9/6/2002 Performed as Burning Brooke. This was always one of Melanie's favorites. This one took some time to percolate before it was done brewing. Lyrics
- Spring in Carolina - 3/12/2002 An up-tempo song. Whose style of songs does this remind you of? That was deliberate. LOL Lyrics
- Sun Don't Shine - 10/18/2002 A blues song with a chromatic progression. Lyrics
- Thank You - 3/2/2004 A benediction for life. Beautiful harmonies and honest words. Fits my philosophical nature. Lyrics
- They're Dancing - 6/24/2005 For Grandmother and Grandfather. Turns out they really did meet at a dance. Lyrics
- Time Doesn't Matter - 8/3/2002 A love song. Good for anyone with brown eyes, but particularly Catalina. Lyrics
- When Love Dissolves - 7/2003 - Performed as Burning Brooke. Almost lost this one. Thought of the chorus at the end of a rehearsal. Melanie had to sing it back to me for me to remember it two weeks later. Finished it on the way home in the car. Lyrics
Arrangements
- Amazing Grace - House of the Rising Sun - Inspired by the Blind Boys, crazy mixed up ideas from Wyndham, and requested by Phyllis. Guess I had to do it.
- America The Beautiful - This is my anti-war, protest song. We are a beautiful country in a war that is not worthy of us. We've gone down the wrong track. But we can still get back to what we should be. I hope you feel that in this arrangement.
- I'll Fly Away - Performed as Burning Brooke. Melanie and I liked to open our gigs with this upbeat spiritual.
- Joshua Fought the Battle - This is an American spiritual. Cata learned it in Romania. Now it is back here in the US with distinctly American accompaniment, but still in Romanian.
- Just A Closer Walk With Thee - We've re-mastered this one. Cata sings in English, the guitar is fun, and the harmony sweet.
- Ripple - Performed as Burning Brooke. What a wonderful simple folk song by the Grateful Dead.
- What A Friend We Have in Jesus - Featuring Mom singing alto and lead on the second verse. Mom's first attempt at recording; what a great sport! Good Job!
